  • individual resistance
  • extreme factors
  • physiology of extreme exposure
  • We consider general biological mechanisms of adaptation to extreme exposure at system and cell levels as well as patterns of formation of deadaptation states in case of their failure. The role of constitutional and individual psychological aspects in applying typical adaptation strategies is demonstrated. We offer the experimental data concerning the role of the opiate system in the process of adaptation to chronic stress. Prospect directions for further study of adaptation and deadaptation under extreme exposure are determined.
