  • We look at current organizational and economic approaches to seed production in certain subjects of the Russian Federation, namely Leningrad and Volgograd regions. We discover that the established practice of seed production in the country represents a threat for the food security of the Russian Federation and requires urgent organizational and economic measures both at federal and regional levels. In our opinion, the priority measures include organizational-economic and financial support of producers of original seeds; material and technical support of institutions involved in rearing and selection of new sorts, increasing the output of stock-breeding by improving the forage resources on the basis of the production of high-quality seeds of permanent and annual grass.
