We consider the role of Leningrad Military-Mechanical Institute, its personnel and students in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. We tell about the institute as a school for preparing the developers of artillery equipment and weapons who contributed to the Great Victory. We also tell the biographies of veterans who devoted themselves to making space-rocket hardware and training staff for Soviet defense industry in the post-war period.
