We carry out retrospective analysis of the conversion reforms in the defense industry of the Soviet Union at various historical stages of the country development taking into account changes in foreign policy and domestic economic factors. Under modern conditions, the practical use of the experience in question seems extremely relevant and appropriate taking into account current development trends in the domestic defense industry.
