We analyze the transformation of Russian society in the era of Peter the Great, the formation of its political system, the implementation of profound reforms in all social spheres, way of life and in all sectors of the economy, including monetary reform, which remained virtually unchanged until 1917. It is indicated that by 1705 there were approximately 14.7 million rubles in circulation in Russia, which is equivalent to 413 tons of silver imported to Europe from the New World annually.
